Zach Bouchard Memorial Scholarship

Zach Bouchard was born and raised in Whatcom County, graduating from Ferndale High School (2008) and Bellingham Technical College (2010).  As a toddler to a young man Zach loved to build, from Legos to helping his father restore an old barn, Zach was happiest working with his hands.  Zach spent 10 years during grade school to high school playing hockey, traveling all over British Columbia and Washington state with the Whatcom County Amateur Hockey Association. Upon graduating from Ferndale and while attending BTC, Zach worked part-time at one of the large, local, family-owned and operated berry farms. After completing his degree at BTC Zach began working full-time at what he affectionately referred to as “The Farm”. In his 5 ½ years at “The Farm” Zach came to realize and live his passion; working outdoors and in the field of agricultural.

A quote Zach used often and truly believed was “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Sadly, Zach passed away in August of 2013 at the age of 23. His family and friends honor his memory and love of the agricultural field with a memorial scholarship for those wishing to pursue a degree in the field of agriculture or to pursue a degree with the ultimate goal of a career in the field of agriculture.
