Robyn du Pre Memorial Scholarship
Robyn du Pre was an exceptional local leader who committed her personal and professional life to loving and protecting the natural environment. Many Bellingham leaders admired Robyn for her commitment to environmental stewardship and for her frank and respectful methods of communication. She was well admired and appreciated for her skills, her passion for the environment and persistent and effective advocacy.
Over the course of her career she worked at North Cascades Institute, RE Sources, (initially as the Sound Keeper and later as the Executive Director) and as Executive Director of the Northwest Straits Foundation. Robyn was instrumentally involved in many long term protection designations, including Squires Lake while working at the Whatcom Land Trust and the Chuckanut Community Forest (aka the Hundred Acre Woods) as a community advocate.
Robyn was an avid cyclist, hiker, gardener and kayaker who enjoyed being out, exploring and adventuring under her own power. She was a naturalist who relished any time that she could find being outdoors, or simply hearing birds sing from her own favorite perch in her screen porch.
Robyn’s friends and loved ones are honoring her by establishing a scholarship fund for Bellingham students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.
