2016 Whatcom Community Foundation Competitive Grant Awardees

The Whatcom Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling more than $170,000 to 31 local charitable organizations. According to Mauri Ingram, President & CEO “In January we invited local nonprofit organizations to tell us how they wanted to make our community better. After a thoughtful review by our grants committee volunteers, we are thrilled to support these projects focused on collaborative projects that build community.”

In addition to the funds distributed during the annual grant round, the Community Foundation, has also awarded more than $2.25 million to support community projects this year. As a result of the large numbers of grants being awarded, the Community Foundation was recognized as the one of the most active grantmakers as compared with other community foundations across the country in an annual survey published by CF Insights. Whatcom Community Foundation was the 11th most active grantmaker on the list of the top 100.
