DCF 1.0

We are thrilled to welcome Steve Swan, Vice President for University Relations at WWU, to our Board of Directors. Steve and his wife Karen moved to Whatcom County three years ago from Wisconsin where he was the Assistant Chancellor for University Advancement at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Steve also founded the company “Ultimate Sports Apparel,” was the assistant men’s basketball coach under former UW-Green Bay Head Coach Dick Bennett from 1985 to 1995, was the sports information director, men’s basketball recruiter and an assistant football coach at UW-Stevens Point from 1977 through 1985 and in 1976 he served as the press secretary to Congressman Robert J. Cornell in Washington, D.C.

“I have a strong belief in the important role that community foundations have in enhancing the quality of life in communities across the country. After having a first-hand opportunity to see the impact of the Whatcom Community Foundation in our county, I knew this was an organization that I want to support with my time and resources. The Community Foundation is a special organization and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of it.”
