WA First Lady Trudi Inslee Visits Whatcom County

Trudi Inslee’s visit

Cheryl Thornton of Cloud Mountain Farm Center leads the tour of their farm and the new food processing facility.

Washington’s First Lady, Trudi Inslee, paid Whatcom County a visit in March, to learn more about our Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), and the innovative work being done to strengthen our local food system by increasing the availability and consumption of locally grown food.

Mrs. Inslee met with more than a dozen community leaders including Mayor Linville, Executive Louws, Bellingham Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker, along with representatives from PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, Whatcom County Health Department, Bellingham Food Bank, Sustainable Connections, Cloud Mountain Farm Center, Chuckanut Health Foundation, Whatcom Farm-to-School, WWU, Whatcom Community Foundation, and local farmers.

We appreciated the opportunity to work with Washington Nonprofits to organize the visit. Washington Nonprofits has been working with the First Lady to assist her as she learns more about the impacts nonprofit organizations are having throughout Washington.
